Senior Planner

Job Description
Frijns Middle East is recruiting for a Senior Planner to join our growing team in Mesaieed, Qatar. This is a full-time office-based role with occasional site visits.
The Senior Planner develops, manages and optimises project schedules, resource plans, and operational strategies for all projects and tenders. This role involves collaborating with cross functional teams including designers, project managers, procurement, workshop supervisors and executives to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Acts as Planning focal point for all running projects and tenders
- Review and maintain baseline project plans and schedules using appropriate scheduling software.
- Monitor and control planning activities through all phases of project lifecycle
- Liaise with engineering, procurement and fabrication functions, and others as required, including third parties, to maintain awareness of project activities, their status, and their impact on the project schedule and manpower requirements.
- Analyse and issue copies of project plans and schedules in accordance with project reporting requirements
- Analyse and issue copies of project progress and performance status reports in accordance with project reporting requirements.
- Review and analyse updates to project manpower requirements
- Assess and communicate schedule impact of change notifications
- Monitor overall project progress status, achievement of major milestones, and evaluate project performance in relation to planned performance.
- Attend internal project progress and performance status meetings as required
- Liaise with cost discipline to ensure accurate and timely control and forecasting of man-hour budgets and ensure that the impact of all change requests is properly assessed and included in the schedules.
- Participate in schedule risk analysis as required
- Must have a proven track record in handling construction projects in different phases
- Develop, manage, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements and construction milestones.
- Monitor on-site progress against baseline schedules and work plans; analyse variances and recommend recovery strategies where delays are identified.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement and production teams to gather input and validate schedule updates and forecasts.
- Lead the preparation of weekly and monthly project reports, including progress curves, look-ahead schedules, and delay analysis.
- Implement and maintain planning procedures and reporting standards, ensuring schedule control is in full compliance with project governance.
- Support claims and change management processes by providing schedule impact assessments and time extension justifications.
- Engage with clients and key stakeholders during progress meetings and site walkthroughs to provide clear updates and projections.
- Identify planning-related risks and opportunities early and work collaboratively to develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
Skills and Qualifications
- University degree preferably in Engineering
- Minimum of 10+ years relevant experience in oil & gas projects, including at least five (5) years in similar position
- Strong work ethics, be able to work under pressure and with different priorities
- Advanced understanding of WBS & CBS structures and project reporting capabilities
- Extensive expertise in planning and scheduling, progress measurement, and earned value management across industrial projects.
- Advanced proficiency in project control tools and software, including Primavera P6, MS Project, Power BI, Excel-based cost control systems.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills for coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, and executive management.
- Certifications such as PMP, CCP (Certified Cost Professional), or PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) are highly preferred.
